It’s easy to focus on yourself during difficult times. However, the most important thing we need to do is help others. What’s something you could do to help your neighbors while excercising social distancing?
I wanted to add a kind act that someone did for me. My aunt is in the high risk category so she can't go outside at all. Instead of staying home and feeling depressed, she is making masks for people. My governor really wants us to wear masks when we go out, and I didn't know how I would find one, so she made masks for everyone in my family in all of our favorite colors. It was such a nice thing for her to do, and it really makes wearing a mask not feel as weird.
@Hannah, I love this! This is a scary time and it's easy to get so focused on ourselves that we forget about everyone else. Thinking about others not only lifts their spirits, but also brings us joy. My family is going to start @Erica's Project 19 today. The first thing we are going to do is paint rocks with positive messages and leave them on a trail by our house like @Robin suggested. Thanks for reminding us that, while we are in tough times, it is also a great opportunity to help others.
I love your post @Hannah! Something you could do to help your neighbors is just by calling them. A phone call or a text message asking if they've been doing okay shows that you do care and it makes them feel good knowing that someone is concerned and willing to check in with them. Thanks for posting!
I love this, Hannah! I think it is so easy to avoid people or feel awkward with others when we are told to keep our distance. A wave and "hello" can bring lots of warmth. If your neighbors are older you can offer to take their trash to the curb, get groceries or go to the post office for them. I have also been loving all of the encouraging signs I have been seeing around my neighborhood. A positive and colorful sign in your yard or window might help to cheer someone up.
