In every situation, it can be so helpful to look for and find the bright side! It is easy to be pessimistic about everything that doesn’t go our way, but I have found it is extremely beneficial to focus on something good that comes out of that situation! I encourage you to comment on a situation where something you didn’t want to happen happened and something good that came out of it! You could even change it up a bit and talk about how you had to do something hard for a good result.
Here is one from my life.
I wanted a dog, but to get one, my parents required that I do certain prep work and then make a presentation about how to responsibly take care of a dog. I ended up making a 49-slide presentation that lasted 1 hour! After all that hard work, I asked my grandparents to give me my birthday and Christmas gifts early in the form of money to put toward my dog. Plus, I had to wait a little while, but 1 year ago on August 10th, I got a pure bred Yorkie puppy! She is amazing!
Rilee - you are exactly right! We can always turn a negative into a positive. Here's my story. I was a terrible student in high school. I had a bad home life and a learning disability, so obviously high school was not the best time for me. My grades were awful and I didn't think any college would accept me. I wasn't even sure if I could handle college. But I had a couple of teachers who believed in me, and I somehow managed to get straight A's my first semester of college. I learned that I can accomplish anything if I believe in myself.
So glad that you wrote this. The people who know me know I love to look on the bright side (sometimes to an annoying level). Looking on the bright side really helps you get through life.
I love this! This is such an awesome idea. I'm gonna have to make this the next prompt of the week. :)
My challenging thing probably has to be middle school. If you read my About page, you'll remember that my middle school experience wasn't the best. And it wasn't until my junior year when I switched schools for the 3rd time since middle school that things started to get better. After 8th grade, my freshman and sophomore years were better than 7th and 8th, but still not great. I didn't actually make any friends until April of my freshman year. And I had those friends throughout my sophomore year, but they came with a ton of baggage; let's just say the rest of the friend group had to keep one of the girls from committing suicide. Because of that, I decided to switch schools AGAIN. And because of those past 4 years, I was a bit nervous for my new school; what if it was just like middle school and when I was an underclassman? And at first, I didn't meet some very good peers, but later in the year and even the year after, I started making some really good friends and people started treating me a lot better. And I've been able to get involved and included in a bunch of clubs and groups. I feel like I've really grown since middle school and just all around a lot happier at my new school. So I guess you could say my "difficult situation where something you didn’t want to happen happened" was those past 4 years and the good that came out of that was it taught me that, if you run into something difficult and you're really struggling from it, just keep pushing forward. It will get better. You may just have to wait hours, days, months, or even years for it to get better.
I will also say that when I find a positive element from a negative situation, my attitude changes for the better and I just feel better!
